Camp Ames is located on the scenic Mississinewa River 3.5 miles outside of Peru, Indiana. Bald eagles are a huge attraction in this area. It's just a peaceful, quiet place to visit. This property is part of the former Wapapinsaw Reserve occupied by the Miami Indian Tribe. The river lays across our country road from the campground. We have provided steps to the river and a bench to sit and fish or just enjoy the beautiful scenery. The level of the river depends on rainfall and is controlled by the Dam upriver. Our kayaks can be used to float the river from the Dam back to the campground when the water levels permit. We offer full hookups for self contained units only. (Water, sewer, 50/30/110 Amp) Bring you own drinking water. This is not a public campground it is our private farm that we share with fellow members and our friends.
