The McClure Campground is located on the south side of McClure Pass. Nearby recreation opportunities include fourwheel driving roads, hiking trails, motorized trails and the historic town of Marble. The campground sits at the head of Lee Creek. It is in open from Memorial Day Weekend through the 31st of October. The maximum stay limit is 14 nights. There are 10 camp sites with an average spur length of 35 feet, one site is pull through and will accommodate longer RV’s. There is a maximum of 8 people and two cars per site. This campground is not on the reservation system and operates on a first come first serve basis. Each site has a picnic table and fire/grill ring. There is a vault toilet, but no potable water, no trash service so Pack-it In, Pack-it Out, no camp host, and no fee for camping. Bear proof food storage containers are required in all GMUG campgrounds. McClure campground is managed by the Forest Service, Paonia Ranger District and operates on funds provided by Gunnison Energy Corporation. This quiet campground is surrounded by aspen that provide excellent shade during the summer and there are beaver ponds near by for trout fishing. Restrictions: OHV use & livestock are not allowed in campground.
